10 Dishwasher Maintenance Tips to Extend Its Life
A well-maintained dishwasher lasts 10-15 years and cleans better throughout its life. These simple habits take minimal effort but make a real difference.
1. Clean the Filter Monthly
Most modern dishwashers have a manual filter at the bottom of the tub. Food particles, grease, and debris collect here. A clogged filter reduces cleaning performance and can cause odors.
To clean it:
- Remove the bottom rack
- Twist and lift out the filter assembly
- Rinse under hot water with a soft brush
- Replace and twist to lock

2. Run a Cleaning Cycle Monthly
